Everyone who collects stamps of Czechoslovakia knows the first stamps of this country - Hradčany. And everyone who knows Hradčany has probably heard the term Vejprty forgeries. Shortly after the establishment of Czechoslovakia, the first forgeries of Czechoslovak stamps were created - the so-called Vejprtská falza or Vejprty forgeries. These are named after the small town in the Krušné hory mountains on the border with Saxony (then it had about 10,000 inhabitants, today it has only about 3,000 inhabitants), where these forgeries appeared in the mail. The earliest known use is known from autumn 1919. It is still not known exactly where they came from (probably neighbouring Saxony) and who distributed them. Only 3 values are known, namely: 100 h, 200 h and 300 h.
In any case, their so far small occurrence and the mystery surrounding their origin and distribution have made them one of the most expensive counterfeits in the world - today's value exceeds even 4 000 EUR/piece!
Yet the chances of discovering new specimens are relatively high! It should be remembered that in Vejprty there was quite a large industrial production and at that time there were even 4 post offices, from where hundreds and thousands of parcels were sent! The Vejprty forgeries are documented from 3 of them! There are still tens of thousands of stamps lying in Hradcany collections around the world waiting to be examined, because not every collector knows how to recognize Vejprty forgeries. But a great publication called Weipert Falzum by the author and the world's leading expert on these stamps, Zdeněk Filípek, will help you to do so. The book costs only 8 EUR and is available at email zdenek.filipek@post.cz. When ordering, please refer to my review, this will get you priority handling.
You can also find a short video about the book on my youtube channel:

So what do you say? Is it worth buying this publication for a few EUR and checking at home to see if there is a rarity of many times higher value lying around?
